Care Instructions
Studio Emporium costumes arrive in protective bags, ensuring they stay pristine and in stage-ready condition.
To keep your costume in its best condition, follow the guideline below.
Care:
Upon receiving your costume, allow it to air outside the protective bag. This will allow the fabrics to breathe. At times, new costumes may have a distinctive smell that can remain until the costume is aired.
Once aired, store your costume hanging up and safely covered in a garment bag until performance time.
Tutu lovers, hang your tutu upside down to maintain its bouncy and beautiful shape when not wearing it.
Keep accessories in a separate zip-loc bag and attach them to the hanger inside the garment bag to avoid damaging the costume or being misplaced.
For a full fluffy tutu or to remove any wrinkles, use a steamer for best results.
After performing, allow your costume to air and attend to any marks or stains before storing again.
Stain Removal:
Stain treatment should be attended to immediately for best results.
Costumes should be hand-treated with spot cleaning only.
Always check for colour fastness in a discreet area prior to any cleaning.
Use a damp cloth to gently remove staining.
For blood stains, gently rub salt and water over the area.
Washing:
Costumes should never be washed in a washing machine.
Washing is not recommended, especially for costumes with specialty fabrics like velvet, satin, sequins, appliques and jewels.
Do not dry clean or iron your costume, which may cause permanent damage.
